I hate Facebook. Yes, I know it's shocking since everyone seems to love all the updates on doctor appointments and funny kitten pictures. The problem is that Facebook is full of shiny, happy people. Let me explain. I can be happy. I can be shiny. I just can't be happy and shiny at the same time.
Oh, I admit I've had some shiny Facebook moments. Post a photo or an update. Get lots of positive comments and "likes." Yeah, it's fun. But then I wonder why I'm spending my valuable time posting pictures and talking about how I'm drinking coffee. I am drinking coffee, but why do I need to share this?
And the endless Farmville updates drove me crazy until I figured out how to turn them off. Although, a few seem to slip in every so often anyway. I don't care if Jojo is fertilizing his fields. Or if he wants to give me a chicken.
Yeah, I know I'm guilty of playing Farmville from time to time. There's something oddly mesmerizing about the Farmville tune and watching that little person walk around the virtual farm.
Facebook is a sanitized version of reality. Nobody is standing in a grassy meadow with gleaming smiles and matching argyle sweaters. Well, maybe in Farmville.
